The Finest Bull

Simply Sü

When I was a kid I heard a song

That´s hummed in me all along.

I don´t remember if the day brought sun or fog,

but “the more I think of you the more I love my dog”...

I´m not being a bitch or a hard-ass to say,

It´s just something that stayed on my way.

If as a child I thought it was funny,

Today it makes sense, sweet as honey

It´s not about biting down on the bone,

It´s about being able to stand on your own.

It´s not about whining or learning to disconnect,

It´s about being you and earning your own respect.

You see, the greatest things in life are simple to find,

Like love and hope, or peace of mind.

We look around us, fitting in and measuring the prize,

Forgetting that simple things aren´t measurable in size.

You look at his house, his car, his wife,

You think “ that bastard´s got The Life”.

So what if he´s got gold in the bank and silk on the bed,

When all these treasures are only in your head.

It all comes down to a matter of perception,

When all you see is the others´perfection.

Forgetting what you see is an apparent reality,

That none of this shit creates your own personality.

You see their greatness in power and glory,

But before admiring, find the whole story…

Who we are is not who we where,

But is creating who we will be for sure.

Some of those stories will be of humble home,

Examples of tenacity, dedication and going alone.

When all shunned and punned they made it through,

They´re living examples for me and you.

Other tales will tell of the glories we know well,

But for that man to stand, how many others fell?

Tales of riches, wealth and all the well wed,

How many in all that luxury, end up feeling dead?

So what does it have to do with the dog and the bull?

It´s actually quite simple if you see it in the full.

You see the difference between beast and animal is one,

It starts in the heart - and here the animals have won!

There´s something unique in this kingdom of beasts,

That we have lost to follies and feasts…

With the animals of wild, domestic and free,

They´ve never lost the essence we find hard to see.

Even the most savage and ferocious of the wild,

Know unconditional love when rearing their child.

Something we beasts do not seem to grasp,

Is this great love, which in their hearts they clasp.

It´s not just in their rearing, their love is one of a kind,

Be it in the wild or the car seat behind.

No matter what happens your animal will stay true,

But we can´t say as much for me and you…

While they´re only fierce under attack,

We live this way daily, cutting each other no slack.

While they´re happy to simply run free,

We try to own everything and that comes with a fee…

So when you look around, they´ll be easy to spot,

Because like the spots on the leopard, you´ve either got it or not!

The look of freedom in the corner of the eye,

You´ll know you´re one to let your mind fly…

To be yourself is always the heart of the matter,

When you see through your heart, this illusion will shatter.

You´ll begin to see others for who they are,

Just like brother eagle sees from afar…

Remember too the wisdom of brother owl,

I promise you´ll never call your gut a foul.

Your word and your integrity you begin to trust,

That makes you all the truer to being just.

So while some seek to find the Finest Bull,

Don´t waste your time and live life to the full!

Never forget brother wolf and his pack,

He´s true to himself, but they´ve always got his back.

As for the rest, who around you holler,

Take the word of a people scholar:

It´s time for you to lift your own fog,

And that´s exactly why I love my dog...
